Such a fun trip! Chris was a fabulous tour guide - so knowledgeable and able to tailor our experience based on interests. Each day brought a new adventure and still more interesting things to see and do. We lucked out and had absolutely perfect weather. The accommodations were lovely and very comfortable, with delicious breakfasts each morning. We loved having free time at each stop to grab a meal and explore on our own. The final evening with Irish stew and local musicians was the perfect topper for a fantastic tour. Thank you!! 🍀

The trip/tour was fantastic. Chris was educational and entertaining. Definitely would not have been able to experience Ireland, for the first time, without the guidance provided. Specifically the side trips that as a first timer would never have thought about…nicely done!

We went on the WAW and loved seeing the beautiful country of Ireland This tour was quite rushed with very little down time. Grab a lunch and get back on the coach. Lots of driving mostly in a small coach. Plenty of room. The hotels were pretty out dated and all of them at least a mile away from the town. So walking or taxi became the only option. The 3 days in Dingle was not needed The town is very small but since the hotel is owned by the tour directors family you are more or less held captive with only two daily shuttles into town. Furthermore, the shuttle which holds only 4 people so some of us waited in the cold windy rain for awhile as they made several trips. They have no flexibility! No taxis in Dingle. So you really are at their mercy. It did not make any of us feel appreciated but rather a chore. With that said Chris our guide was very knowledgeable and has a soothing voice singing Irish songs and stories. He maneuvers the coach smoothly over those tiny roads. I enjoyed his humor.

Hello Andrea, warm greetings from Ireland, many thanks for touring with us, it was a pleasure to welcome and host you both. Thank you also for your kind words about the professionalism and knowledge of our Essential Ireland tour guide Chris (my brother), he really enjoys guiding this '7 day Wild Atlantic Way' itinerary in particular due to its popularity and 5 star reviews. We were disappointed to read you didn't enjoy the hotels, normally they get great feedback. But of course we welcome all comments and opinions from our tour guests, so we will definitely stay focused on hotel choices. We just have to be careful not to over-correct, especially when this is the first negative sentiment we've ever received about our hotel choices, which we curate very carefully. With respect, we actually passionately believe that 3 nights in Dingle is ideal. Our tour-guests then enjoy a full free day to explore and experience this wonderful town in-depth. Considering we include a full free day on Day #6 (with evening activities then offered), we were surprised that you felt that theres very little down time. We allocate a full day of down time, and on a 7 day tour (where guests want to visit and experience a lot of things), thats not bad, in our professional opinion. Sorry to read Dingle wasn't a highlight for you, this itinerary will definitely keep the 3 night stay in Dingle in 2026, although we will also be introducing other tours that will only stay in Dingle for 2 nights. Regarding the choice of Milltown House, which we own, we stay here because of its beautiful waterfront location but also because we can offer our tour guests so many experiences. During your 3 night stay you experienced: - a whiskey tasting - a home-cooked meal - a private Irish music concert by the wonderfully talented O'Se family - a private falconry experience in our very own school of Falconry in the waterfront garden of Milltown House - a welcome reception of Dingle Gin & tonic from our neighbours, the Dingle Distillery We could choose to stay in a big hotel on main street, but then we wouldn't enjoy these intimate and authentic Irish experiences. The honest reality is that Milltown House would be full and booked-out regardless of whether our tours stayed there or not. We do hope we will get to welcome you again in future, Chris and I would love to tour the North and Donegal with you sometime in the future. Until then, best wishes from Dingle Harbour. Safe travels, and a genuine thank you for travelling with us. Stephen and the Essential Ireland team

I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Northern Ireland. The depth and variety of experiences during the 5 days there far surpassed my expectations. From the first stop at the monastic ruins of Monasterboice and its Celtic-Christian High Crosses to the walled city of Derry with its curving, lovely Peace Bridge, we took in centuries of Irish history and culture. Our guides Stephen and Sam kept up a running commentary on all we saw, as well as telling us about all things Irish. This tour includes the Titanic Experience, a Black Taxi tour of the divided neighborhoods of Belfast known for violence during The Troubles, and an afternoon at the elegant Queens University and Botanical Gardens. Then on to Giant’s Causeway, a wonder of nature and a top highlight for me. Next, we went to Derry for a stroll around the bogside and its outsized murals and memorials, an area of much violence during The Troubles. We stayed in a hotel on the River Foyle and could walk on the Peace Bridge at our leisure. We walked on the walls of Derry, with canon still in place. The lovely City Hall is a must-see. And if it’s nature you love most, this tour ends with a day trip to breathtaking Donegal and time to wander through the woods along the lake. Whatever your interests, you will find this tour amazing!

Hello Sharon, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a positive and glowing review, it makes us very proud to read that our tour guests enjoyed their Irish experience and loved touring with us. We had a lovely small group and it was a joy to guide such a fun and enthusiastic group. It's very important for us to offer tours of Northern Ireland and Donegal, and they are surely increasingly in popularity, thanks in many ways to positive reviews and feedback like yours. Sam and I are happy to read you enjoyed our tour guiding (its been our proud career for 25 years) and that you loved the excellent hotels. Delighted also to read that you enjoyed all the great attractions, and cultural and historical activities we included on the tour. Best wishes and we sincerely hope to tour with you again in the future. Safe travels and warm regards from Ireland Stephen McPhilemy (and Sam)
